Why candle care is important

Taking good care of your CO•ZI CANDLE not only extends its lifespan but also enhances safety and the beauty of its burn. By adhering to our advice, you can avoid issues like tunneling and soot build-up while fully indulging in the delightful scents and atmospheric glow. A properly maintained candle burns more effectively and evenly, providing a relaxed experience each time.

Essential tips for your candle

Here are the most important tips to keep your candles looking beautiful and safe for a long time:

1. Set the foundation on the first burn: Wax has a "memory," so during the initial burn, let the candle melt completely across the entire surface, right up to the edges of the container. This usually takes a few hours, depending on the candle's size. Doing this helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn for the candle's entire life.

2. Always trim the wick: Before each use, trim the wick to about 5 mm. This promotes a stable flame, reduces soot, and prevents the wick from "mushrooming," which is when the tip bulges with excess carbon. A small, consistent flame not only extends the candle's lifespan but also minimizes smoke and flickering.

3. Stay clear of drafts: Burn your candle in a calm, draft-free area. Strong airflow can tilt the flame to one side, causing uneven melting or soot build-up. If you notice your candle burning unevenly, extinguish it and carefully adjust the wick back to the center while the wax is still warm.

Things you should absolutely avoid

To maintain the safety and quality of your CO•ZI CANDLE, there are a few key precautions to keep in mind:

1. Avoid burning for extended periods: To achieve optimal results, limit each burn session to a maximum of 4 hours. Excessive burn times can cause the flame to grow too large, resulting in a "mushroom" effect on the wick and the production of soot. It can also lead to the glass becoming too hot.

2. Never leave a burning candle unattended: Always stay nearby when a candle is lit. Ensure candles are beyond the reach of children and pets and placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable items like curtains.

3. Refrain from using water to extinguish: Use a candle snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten it to extinguish the candle. Using water can cause hot wax to splatter and won't effectively put out the flame.

4. Do not burn the candle completely to the bottom: Cease burning once there’s about 1 cm of wax remaining at the bottom of the glass. This helps prevent overheating and protects the surface where the candle rests.
